Elena Ferrándiz pasó su infancia en San Fernando, Cádiz, rodeada de lápices de colores. Estudió Bellas Artes en la Universidad de Sevilla, donde se licenció en la especialidad de grabado. Desde entonces ha unido su pasión por la literatura y el arte a través de su trabajo como ilustradora de importantes editoriales, diarios de tirada nacional y entidades e instituciones destacadas. En el plano narrativo, ha dado vida con sus trazos a obras de Emilia Pardo Bazán o Virginia Woolf, entre otros muchos célebres y destacados clásicos. En el mundo del álbum ilustrado, ha compartido su faceta de ilustradora con otros escritores, pero también ha publicado sus propias obras donde aprovecha para jugar con la imagen y la palabra, de donde brota su particular universo lleno de metáforas. Su trabajo más conceptual tuvo cabida en el programa de RTVE La aventura del saber.
